The Parkesburg Police Department provides both routine and special patrol operations under the "community policing" based patrol concept. The department currently operates, in addition to patrol functions

Bicycle Patrol Unit

  • Used in community policing operations, park patrols, community events and special operations

Motorcycle Patrol Unit

  • Placed into service in 2003
  • Certified Operators in Emergency Vehicle Operations and Motorcycle Deployment .
  • Members of the Tri-County Regional Motorcycle Unit, covering Chester, Delaware, Bucks and Montgomery Counties.

Commercial Vehicle Inspection Unit

  • Placed into service in 1992
  • Certified Weighmasters
  • Certified Motor Carrier Enforcement Inspectors
  • Pennsylvania Certified Inspection Mechanics

K-9 Unit

  • K9 Athos, retired Nov. 2007
  • Program pending final selection

Traffic Safety Unit

Community Policing/Public Relations Town Watch Office

  • Citizen's Police Academy
  • The Department lectures to community organizations and civic groups on personal safety and risk reduction.
  • In 2009 the Department received a grant and purchased two SEGWAYS. These Units are utilized by Patrol officers throughout the residental and business districts.
